Dear Devotees,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
As we try to come to terms with the departure of His Holiness Bhakti Charu
Swami, we join you in eagerly awaiting Maharaja’s return to Sri Mayapur Dham
where his samadhi will be erected.
Due to the ravaging spread of COVID-19 in India, the government will not
allow any public ceremonies to take place at this time.
Therefore, we request devotees to refrain from making plans to travel to
Mayapur. Only a few devotees, those who are directly involved in service,
will be able to attend the last rites. This will be strictly enforced by
government protocol.
ISKCON Mayapur Temple authorities have strictly emphasised that they cannot
accommodate any devotee who is planning to attend. The ISKCON Mayapur campus
will be restricted for entry to both the general public and devotees during
the arrival of Maharaja’s vapu and during the ceremony. The campus will
reopen again after the samadhi ceremony is concluded and a thorough
sanitization has been completed. The four devotees who will perform the last
rites will be quarantined in seclusion for twenty-eight days.
We are coordinating travel arrangements and will confirm the date and time
of the ceremony soon. We estimate that it is likely to be next week. Viewing
links will also be shared, allowing you to participate and offer respects
from the safety of your homes.
Once restrictions are lifted, we will have a grand ceremony in glorification
of our dear Bhakti Charu Maharaja to which everyone will be welcomed.
Any transgression of the government’s injunctions or attempts to attend the
private samadhi installation could result in serious ramifications for
Mayapur and ISKCON at large.
In the spirit of cooperation that Bhakti Charu Maharaja enshrined, please
comply with this request and let us all await the joyous day when we can
come together to honor and remember Srila Prabhupada’s dear son.
Thank you very much.
